Sesquadsch-Hatz in der Sierra Nevada?

Es erhärten sich die Hinweise, dass im Oktober 2010 in der Sierra Nevada in Nordkalifornien mehrere Sesquadsch von einem Jäger angeschossen oder sogar getötet wurden. Die Meldung stammt ursprünglich von einem Blogger namens Robert Lindsay, wurde aber mittlerweile von anderen Personen bestätigt. Zurzeit wird in den Bigfoot Forums, der informativsten und auch objektivsten Internetforum zum Thema (einige Teilnehmer sind Wissenschaftler), intensiv darüber debattiert. Ein User namens General, der sich als Schütze selbst ausgibt, nimmt Stellung. Seine Name wurde inzwischen enthüllt: Er heisst Justin Smeja und lebt in Nordkalifornien.

Derek Randles untersuchte den Zwischenfall und steht seither in Kontakt mit Smeja. Randles gilt in der Bigfooter-Community als eine der glaubhaftesten und seriösesten Persönlichkeiten. Er fand im Jahr 2000 mit der Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization den Skookum-Abdruck im Gifford Pinchot National Forest und arbeitete auch für das North American Ape Project des Anthropologen Jeff Meldrum. Aktuell ist er Teil des so genannten Olympic Projects - ein Forschungsprojekt auf der Olympic-Halbinsel in Washington, das Beweise für die Existenz von Bigfoot sammelt. Auch Justin Smeja ist inzwischen Mitglied dieser Gruppe, wie auf der Homepage zu sehen ist.

Das Projekt ist offenbar ein Erfolg: Das siebenköpfige Team soll in den letzten Jahren rund 100 Spurenreste von Bigfoot, vor allem Haare, gefunden haben, wie Randles in den Bigfoot Forums schrieb. Diese gaben sie an die Forscherin Melba Ketchum weiter, welche seit längerem an einer Studie über Sesquadsch-DNA arbeitet. Alle ausser eine der Proben stammen von der Olympic-Halbinsel. Diese stammt aus der Sierra Nevada in Nordkalifornien. Es ist ein Fleischfetzen, der von einer der angeschossenen Kreaturen stammen soll.

Und so soll sich das Ganze laut Randles zugetragen haben. Den Originaltext kann man hier lesen.

Die beiden Männer waren auf Bärenjagd in der Sierra Nevada. Sie fuhren mit ihrem Jeep einen Feldweg entlang. Dabei sahen sie grosse Kothaufen am Wegesrand. Nach einer Kurve erblickten sie rechts vom Weg, 70 bis 90 Meter entfernt auf einer Lichtung, eine grosse Gestalt. Sie stand aufrecht und hielt ihre Arme über dem Kopf. Als die Kreatur einige Schritte Richtung Fahrzeug machte, konnten die Jäger Details ausmachen. Sie war von grauweissem Haar (mit einigen schwarzen Stellen) bedeckt. Sie hielten an, und Smeja griff nach seinem Gewehr. Er dachte in diesem Moment, dass es ein Bär sei, wie Randles schreibt. Der Mann glaubte damals auch nicht, dass Bigfoot existierten könnte. Sein Begleiter war sich nicht sicher, ob es ein Bär war. Er glaubte eher, es handle sich um einen Menschen in einem Affenkostüm. Doch Smeja stieg aus und zielte auf den vermeintlichen Bären. Er feuerte. Die Kugel traf die Kreatur in die Brust. Sie ging zu Boden. Doch kurz danach erhob sie sich wieder und rannte davon, erst auf zwei, dann auf vier Beinen und verschwand im Gebüsch. Die beiden Männer näherten sich der Lichtung. Als sie die Stelle erreichten, wo die Kreatur gestanden hatte, nahmen sie eine Bewegung wahr. Zwei kleinere Figuren, offenbar Jungtiere, kamen hinter Sträuchern hervor und begannen die Jäger zu umkreisen. Auch sie waren völlig behaart, aber schwärzlich gefärbt. Die Jäger beschrieben sie als eine Mischung aus Gorilla und Bär. Und auch sie bewegten sich abwechselnd auf zwei und vier Beinen. Auffallend sei der Kopf gewesen, der im Verhältnis zum Rest des Körpers sehr gross gewesen sei. Die Kreaturen kamen näher. Als eine von ihnen einen Felsvorsprung erklomm, dachte Smeja, dass sie ihn angreifen würde. Er feuerte auf sie, sie fiel hinunter und blieb tot liegen. Er hob sie auf und legte sie in ein Gebüsch. Dann verliessen die beiden Jäger fluchtartig das Gebiet.

Zwei Wochen später sprach Randles mit den beiden am Telefon. Er glaubte ihnen. "Ihre Geschichten deckten sich, und sie klangen natürlich", schreibt Randles. Er bat die Jäger, zum Ort des Geschehens zurückzukehren und nach Überresten zu suchen. Sie buddelten sich durch den Schnee und fanden schliesslich einen Fleischfetzen. Laut Randles geht die Suche nach Überresten weiter.

Statements des mutmasslichen Schützen

Unten angefügt einige Statements, die der mutmassliche Schütze Justin Smeja alias General in den Bigfoot Forums hinterlassen hat, im Original (inklusive Rechtschreibefehler). Angefangen bei seiner Schilderung der Ereignisse:

"Some trees covered a meadow like a blind corner we went further and the meadow started to open up visaully. we saw movement about the same time we were both thinking holy ?*#!ing /?#* a white #*!#/!? bear???? By white I mean the color of a pale coyote we have a wide variety of color phase bears so white/ lighter color wasn't out of the question in our minds. Probably less then a second has passed it was on my side. I looked at it for less then half a second then focused on getting to my rifle and chambering a round. I basically just saw a hint of movement that obviously wasn't human cause it was so hairy so it must be a bear. Then focused on grabbing my gun and took my eyes off it and focused on getting into position. I'm starting to raise my gun then just before the scope got to my face looking up into the meadow. Ill try to walk you through what went on in my head as best as I remember. My mind was goin 200 mph. As I'm about to see through my scope I look into the meadow. It was then I started to say wtf in my head. I'm thinking wtf its on two legs and its walking, (honestly who believes in bigfoot anyways. that's just crazy)I had never seen a picture of bigfoot hell I didn't know anyone thought this was real, I had heard the name from a movie I watched when I was a kid but I don't remember much of that at all. So its now been 3 or 4 seconds its walking towards me with its hands above its head, I'm still thinking this is the weirdest bear in the world. Its got white hair its 600lbs huuuge, tall not muscler and it walks on two legs I wonder what it will taste like then it took 4 or 6 more steps further and Idk. I said to myself this thing is a ******* monster monster or monster bear really doesn't matter wtf it needs to die cause that's what you do to monsters you shoot them or it must just be a weird bear cause that's the only animals out here. right? I'm finally gonna kill my bear or uhm I'm now squeezing on this f'up mangy white monster bear. my buddy instead of grabbing his rifle this whole time is pretty much stunned he grabs the binocs and just watches. He says don't shoot not a bear a few times in a few ways. Somewhere around that time the gun went off."

"Only thing thats has been recovered was found by me and my bloodhound the flesh sample.well that's not toally true a bone fragiment some fecies and hair was recently found in the same location but till the test results come back it could be anything."

"The piece given to dr k was as derek said a square inch maybe a bit bigger. The piece the driver/I have is as thick as a bar of soap and perhaps 2 times the length and width. I dont know how to describe it good but I'm not going to unfreeze it just for a picture. I really dont know how much it weighs I was just throughing out a guess. If you put all 3 pieces together (mine, the drivers, and dr ks, which was all the same piece before i cut it up and divided it, and is the only piece the same piece that was found about 10 days after the shooting) there might be 1 pounds of flesh fat skin and hair maybe there is 2lbes. i really dont know if i had to guess its about one single pound possibly less I was refuring to the whole piece when i said ''15 maybe 16 oz''. Theres a lot of ways to look at that. There is several hundred hairs. I'm just not good with examples ok hows this if you cut a squirrel in half it would look about that size and have about that much flesh/hair,skin/fat."

"I wish there was bodies but there is NOT. yes I continue to search for them I and others. I have gone to the hills about every weekend sense it happened looking for it. Till 7 weeks ago the site was under too much snow to get to. Sense then I have been up there 5 times. I'm going again soon its about 3 hours from my house and I usually stay for a day or two. Hopefully I can find something on the camera traps I've been setting up there to show you all. A body/bones of course would be better, I keep expanding my search my current theory is the body or bodies were washed down the mountain with the snow melt ( there is a raging seasonal creek right there) and they are miles down sitting along the creek line thats now near non existent, I am sorry but I dont buy into all this bs bf stuff no offense at all to any of you. This is new to me. I didnt really believe in wood knocking till 2 weeks ago so excuse my ignorance but I just cant make sense of them burying their dead BUT the more I look the more it seems like a realistic possibility tho . EVERY TIME I've gone I've said it would be the last time I will go hoping to find something. I come back discouraged end up thinking about it till I decide to go again. So hopeful every time. I guess its become an obsession. Good thing there is good huntin up there or I'd have gone crazy by now."

"There was a lot of questions about physical desctiption of the creatures. I really don't think I can paint a picture with my words. Whether or not we will all admit it but I think we have all seen finding bigfoot monster quest and all that. I look at some of their recreations and laugh but I have seen a few I thought dang thats dead on."

"I don't know. We just wanted to get away from the nightmare, none of it was fun and we wanted it to be over. Till you see a monster and decide not to shoot or to shoot then I just don't think I can describe or put into words my feelings or emotions in a way that would make sense to you. The thought of taking a picture at the time never crossed my mind. That may sound weird or untrue but its what happend."

"I dont know if this is right or wrong but its just what happened.... We took like 6 black contractor trash bags to the site cause we were so sure we would walk up to area and find the little one in pieces and load it up. Obviously that didnt work out quiet like I planned. Once we found the piece we put it in one of the trash bags and drove straight home, it was cold, very coold, we had been digging for hours in the snow) so by the time we found it we were very much ready to leave. We got home divided it wrapped it in paper and froze it. (3 hours from taking it out of the snow it was in freezer). Later on I was told to freezer wrap the paper and get all the air out, like with those electric food saver vacuum sealer bags. I did that and I ended up freezing that in a brick of ice just so no air can ever get in there. Should be the same in 20 years that way, thats atleast how ducks work. Probably spent 3 days in the freezer before getting over nighted to dr. k. I dont have the best memory in the world but thats what happened I could be a few days off one way or the other, not that it really matters. You get what happened."
